Vyndamax (tafamidis) and Vyndaqel (tafamidis meglumine) are prescription drugs used to treat certain types of cardiomyopathy. There were no known side effects of Vyndamax and Vyndaqel in studies of the drugs.
Specifically, Vyndamax and Vyndaqel are used in adults to treat certain types of cardiomyopathy (a heart condition that weakens your heart muscle) and to reduce the risk of hospitalization and death related to heart problems. The cardiomyopathy must be caused by a disease called transthyretin-mediated amyloidosis (ATTR). The ATTR may be:
- Wild-type: This means the ATTR isn’t genetic.
- Hereditary: This means the ATTR is inherited.
The active ingredient in Vyndamax is tafamidis, while the active ingredient in Vyndaqel is tafamidis meglumine. (Tafamidis meglumine is the salt form of tafamidis.) The drugs come as oral capsules.
